What does LGBTQ+ stand for?

LGBTQ+ is an initialism that means:

People often use LGBTQ+ to mean all of the communities included in the “LGBTTTQQIAA”:

Lesbian

Gay

Bisexual

Transgender

Transsexual

2/Two-Spirit

Queer

Questioning

Intersex

Asexual

Ally

In the community, the term “LGBTQ+” is used more often perhaps because it is more user-friendly!

Dental Beauty is a company that values its people and workers. In light of this fact, it is essential to create work environments that are safe and welcoming to people of all backgrounds, including individuals who identify as LGBTQ+. Below are a few of Dental Beauty’s efforts this Pride Month:

We have rolled out training about LGBTQ+ to our team with the following subsections:

Inclusion in the workplace

LGBTQ+ terminology: the importance of educating yourself
Supporting LGBTQ+ – What can organisations do?
Creating a safe space: Gender and Pronouns in the workplace

We have created a membership with GLADD.

GLADD is the UK’s only organisation dedicated to uniting and representing LGBTQ+ doctors, dentists, and medical and dental students from across the country.

Dental Beauty will receive community with monthly newsletter updates, invitations to our socials, conferences, and educational events and the opportunity to network with other LGBTQ+ doctors and dentists from all over the UK in a friendly and supportive environment.

Our team members have also been encouraged to add their pronouns and statements to their email signatures if they feel comfortable doing so. The practice of pronouns has become a way for us all to not assume someone’s gender. Having everyone use their pronouns encourages trans/non-binary people to feel more comfortable stating theirs.

Dental Beauty has made a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the workplace, not only during Pride month. Our team at Dental Beauty is ensuring that we are continuously being educated, supportive and getting involved!
